European partial transit

Everything we learn from peering, and nothing we buy. A cheaper way to reach European networks when you already have a global upstream.

Partial transit gives you the routes we learn at 16 internet exchanges and from our private interconnects, together with our own customer routes. What it does not include is the rest of the global table, which is the part that costs money to buy.

For traffic that is mostly European, that trade is a good one. The prefixes you reach this way cover a large share of European broadband, mobile and content networks, and they are reached over paths we control end to end. Anything not in the partial table keeps following your existing default or your other upstream.

Customers typically run partial transit alongside full transit, either from us or from an incumbent, and let local preference do the work. The result is a lower blended cost per bit without giving up global reach.

What you get for the money

Lower cost per bit

Peering routes are priced below full transit because we are not buying them. Move the European share of your traffic across and the blended rate drops.

Shorter paths

Traffic to a peer leaves our network at the exchange nearest the destination rather than being carried to a transit handover somewhere else.

Predictable table

A smaller, stable set of prefixes with clean origins, IRR-generated filters and RPKI validation applied before anything reaches you.

No surprises

Our exchange and interconnect list is published on the network page, so you can see exactly which networks the service reaches before you order.
